Assignment Profile:

Our client, based in the Channel Islands is seeking to employ a Head of Compliance. The main purpose of the role is to ensure via a professional approach, and good communication, provide a comfort level to all stakeholders that the business activities of the company’s businesses in are conducted both responsibly and in compliance with the requirements and standards placed upon the organisation.

Duties and responsibilities will include the following;

Ensure the provision of comprehensive advisory, monitoring and risk control services.

Ensure new products/business/transactions are undertaken in accordance with all regulatory requirements, Group standards and overall best practice, and generally minimise regulatory and reputational risk.

Work with the local Managing Director to develop and maintain good relationships with local regulators in all locations in which the business operates.

Ensure the establishment of a strong, forward looking and proactive compliance framework, and continuing to develop the compliance culture.

Act as focal point for the reporting of money laundering matters to ensure procedures are adhered to in meeting legal obligations.

Ensure the provision, revision and adoption of local compliance manuals, guidelines and procedures and ensure observance of all local legal and regulatory requirements.

Monitor new laws, rules, regulatory requirements and competitor activity so as to advise local management about their impact and ensure operations meet all relevant requirements and industry best practice standards proactively.

Candidate Profile:

You will have considerable compliance experience (minimum 7 years) within banking, asset management, private clients or have worked for a large consulting firm. You will be a graduate with a professional qualification preferably an accounting of legal background with additional compliance qualifications

Good knowledge of local regulatory/legal requirements relevant to such businesses and awareness of similar requirements in other offshore jurisdictions.

Experience in a truly international business environment with a capability to communicate with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds is paramount.

As are good management and interpersonal skills

Ability to work on an independent basis under pressure and to drive projects forward to completion.

Ability to exercise independent judgment and persuade others to understand/accept that judgment, without compromising professional standards.
